Cozumel Trip Report November 2012

David and Nancy just returned from another week of a great relaxing scuba diving trip to the Occidental Grand Resort, Cozumel Mexico.  The OG staff was just perfect again.  Which is the reason why we have returned to the OG so many times this year.  The occupancy rate of the resort in November was over 50% and it showed at the dive shop.  The dive shop takes 4 trips a day and each boat was full.

The weather was gorgeous.  80 to 83 degrees for a high each day and a low of mid 70 degrees.  It did sprinkle once or twice, but at night.  The wind was a little higher than normal, about 15 mph.  But all in all, it was perfect.  The harbor master did close the port on Tuesday morning, in preparation for a storm front that was to move in, but it failed to appear.  Thus, the port was opened again and we went diving.

The dive shop spent some time in October and repainted all of its buildings.  They look beautiful!!

The artist "hid" several items in the picture below.  Can you find the airplane, the turtle, the hamburger (with all the fixings) & the seahorse?

Nancy spent a lot of free time painting different "plates".  Each plate represents a year we went to Cozumel. We still have several years to go.

A lovely lady named Sebastiana owns and runs a booth on the beach.  Some of the items are already painted and may cost a little more.  But each item can be purchased unpainted and you can apply your own flair.  After painting, Sebastiana takes your painted item home to be "glazed and fired" and brings the finished product back to you the next day.  Most of the unpainted items are less the $25.00.  The painting is included.

Here are few of the pictures we took during the week.

Everyday we saw at least 1 turtle, sometimes more.  Also, everyday we saw a spotted Eagle ray.  Beautiful creatures.

We only saw 1 lion fish (YEAH!!!), but this trip we didn't see any sharks.  BooHoo :)

But we saw a lot of lobsters, crabs, small fish life on the reefs, barracudas, groupers, several schools of different fish and the spotted Eagles rays!!!

Here are some HD movies we took.

You should be able to just click on the picture and Windows Media Player will open and play the movie.

You must give it time to buffer and load.

Here is a YouTube link to all the movies we took in 1 big file.  All I did is connect all the movies together.

It is just under 9 minutes.  Click the link below.

Here is a YouTube link to a slide show of all the pictures listed above.

All I did is connect all the pictures together in one large slideshow presentation.

It is just over 10 minutes.  Click the link below.

Of course, at the end of the week we had to leave.  Here is a movie of our airplane departing paradise.

It will take several minutes for it to buffer and play.
