COZUMEL 2011

Nancy and David went diving in Cozumel Mexico from September 24th till October 1st, 2011.  This is our trip report.

NOTE:  Each picture or video will have a 4 digit date on it.  Some will have the name of the fish along with the date.  This will allow you to know what day the picture was taken.

We went to Cozumel Mexico with the Phoenix Scuba dive shop.  We stayed at the Casa Del Mar resort.  It is a 3 star resort which treats its guest as if they are 5 star.  The dive shop signed us up for the full American plan.  Which means all food and drinks are included, along with 2 tank boat dives each morning and unlimited shore diving.  The resort uses the Del Mar Aquatics for all their diving needs.  They are without a doubt a 5 star diving operation.

Nancy and David have been to Cozumel several times.  It is one of our favorite diving locations.  The water is crystal clear, warm and visibility can be 100 feet or more.  The coral is teaming with life and there is always something new to look at on each dive.

For non-divers, each dive is about 1 hour under water with a wait time of 1 hour between dives.

Each boat dive means you fall off the boat, go down to your desired depth for about an hour and when you finish the dive, the boat is there to pick you up.  Each dive is controlled and monitored by a certified dive master.  Our dive master this trip was a young man named Gabriel.  We found him to be very helpful, knowledgeable and a very capable dive master.  He found unusual fish and/or sea creatures on each and every dive which made our diving experience even better.

I have created a slide show (with sound) of all the pictures and videos listed below and posted it up on You Tube.

On our third day of diving, we went to the Wreck C-53 Felipe Xicotenantl

Unfortunately, our Intova IC12 camera battery died on the second dive of the day.

Kevin, at Intova, (via emails) diagnosed the problem and sent me replacement batteries.  Nice customer service.

We decided to take day 4 off.  We sat around the room, updated our dive logs, watched a movie and took a nap.

After putting the camera on the charger for a day and a half, it died again.

We did not get any pictures from the second dive or from our night time dive this day.  BUMMER!!!

Below, are the videos we took.  Most are less than 30 seconds.

You should just be able to click on them and Windows Media Player should open and play the video automatically.

You may have to wait a minute or two for the movie to buffer.  Just be patient!  It will play.

Again, the week we spent diving in Cozumel was just fantastic.  The resort, the dive shop and the Cozumel reefs are as close to perfect as one can get.  We will continue coming back to this little Paradise!!
